Last year we entered the Small Business Sunday (#SBS) competition run by retail magnate and star of BBC2's Dragons Den Theo Paphitis, and we lucky enough to be chosen as a winner personally by Theo himself.
To enter the competion which is open only to small businesses, we had to send a tweet on Twitter about our business and hope that Theo would like what he saw. It turns out he did like us and he re‐tweeted the message to his almost half a million followers.
As a result, we quickly gained hundreds more followers and several new orders for our gourmet quality extra virgin olive oil from Cyprus. We were also profiled on a new website (www.theopaphitissbs.com) that is exclusive to #SBS winners.
We collected our #SBS winners certificate in Birmingham recently and had the chance to pose for photographs with Theo himself. We had a giggle with Theo because Pam told him that she felt sorry for him as we'd heard he didn’t have any decent olive oil at home, and we gave him a free bottle!
Any small business owners looking for a re‐tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5PM and 7.30PM and include the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are re‐ tweeted every Monday at 8PM and then invited to enter their profile on the new website.
